Background Incidence rates of autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and gender dysphoria (GD) are rising not only in the general population, but particularly among children, adolescents, young adults with eating disorders (EDs). While ED have risen during COVID pandemic, trends co-occurring ADHD, GD yet to be investigated detail or at scale by way large electronic medical record data. Objectives To investigate EDs years prior COVID-19 pandemic. Methods We utilized a de-identified multinational health records database (TriNetX) 48,558 individuals aged 5-26 diagnosed (EDs) least twice between 2017 2022. The primary predictor variable differentiated each person’s index (first) diagnosis (2017-2019 vs. 2020-2022). outcome was rate new psychiatric diagnoses year following patient’s first diagnosis. applied propensity score-matched multivariable logistic regressions compare outcomes 2017-2019 2020-2022. Results Our analysis included 17,445 (8% 13.5% 1.9% GD) 31,113 2020-2022 14.6% 3.2% GD). After 1:1 score matching, 17,202 from cohort were matched peers mirroring cohort. Those showed 19% (aOR[95%CI]=1.19[1.07-1.33]), 25% (aOR=1.25[1.04-1.49]), 36% (aOR=1.36[1.07-1.74]) increase odds for diagnoses, respectively, within 365 days after diagnosis, compared Discussion Rates significantly higher post-pandemic comparison pre-pandemic cohort, even controlling baseline levels diagnoses. Such findings reveal critical gap our current understanding totality ways which may impacted onset clinical course EDs, adults.
