Eating disorders (EDs) represent a significant public health concern, with high prevalence among adolescent girls. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to marked increase in EDs, underlining the need for brief screening tool clinical settings. present study compared ICD-10-based ED-diagnoses SCOFF-identified at-risk female patients setting and assessed tool's reliability. Introduction Eating disorders (EDs) and disordered eating behaviours are common in the general population. Those with gastrointestinal (GI) may be particularly at risk, as they need dietary therapies. There no direct comparisons of risk EDs patients coeliac disease (CeD), inflammatory bowel (IBD) irritable syndrome (IBS). We present first study comparing prevalence ED factors CeD, IBD IBS using Sick, Control, One stone, Fat, Food (SCOFF) questionnaire. Methods Patients attending GI clinics diagnosed or were approached to complete SCOFF questionnaire between 2021 2022 compared controls. Eating disorders are serious conditions that affect how people think and behave around food, their body image. This study investigated common eating among medical students in Uganda, the factors linked to occurance. The findings revealed 16.6% of showed signs possible based on SCOFF screening tool. Those at high risk included female sex, individuals with multiple sexual partners, those experiencing suicidal thoughts. These results highlight importance raising awareness about academic settings, particularly institutions, underscore need for early identification targeted interventions. Further research is necessary explore sociocultural influences Uganda other low-resource settings inform culturally appropriate prevention treatment strategies.
