ABSTRACT The growing demand for water in agriculture requires a thorough assessment of quality to ensure sustainable irrigation practices. This study integrates novel approach, the method removal effects criteria (MEREC), with principal component analysis (PCA), which delves into intricate interplay key parameters within Karun River Basin, vital agricultural region Iran. include total dissolved solids (TDS), electrical conductivity (EC), sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), permeability index (PI), hardness (TH), percentage (SP), magnesium (MAR) and potential salinity (PS). results revealed strong correlations between EC, TDS SAR. PCA that SAR PS were primary contributors variations quality, explaining more than 89% variance. MEREC was most significant factor, followed by EC calculated (WQI) indicated 74% samples fell low‐restriction category, whereas 26% exhibited moderate restrictions. These findings suggest although Basin is generally suitable irrigation, content may pose challenges productivity.
