Erratic rainfall and extended dry periods challenge forage production livestock feed sustainability in dryland agriculture regions. This study investigated the effects of planting dates genotype selection on nutritive value in-vitro matter degradability (IVDMD) fodder radish genotypes Midlands KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The experiment followed a completely randomised design with three (Endurance, Line 2, Nooitgedacht) five (December, January, February, March May). After months growth each date, crops were harvested, prepared analysed for various nutritional parameters including crude protein, fibre content, IVDMD. Results revealed that December had highest protein (28–31%) across genotypes, while plantings optimised total non-structural carbohydrates (13.31%) metabolisable energy (6.64 MJ/kg). Nooitgedacht demonstrated improved performance, achieving higher IVDMD 85.54% leaves 77.51% tubers February plantings. Significant interactions between observed ash, cellulose leaves. In conclusion, these findings highlight crucial role date choice optimising under conditions, offering valuable insights enhancing productivity supporting sustainable rural livelihoods.
