This study delved into the intricate interplay between social media addiction and various dimensions of adolescent issues, encompassing family, academic, personal, domains. Categorizing participants three groups based on their status, we employed SMAS-SF scale used Mann-Whitney U test to explore disparities in issues across these groups. Notably, a significant positive correlation emerged problems faced by adolescents susceptibility addiction. Personal were found be strong predictors addiction, highlighting connection challenges allure platforms. Regression analysis revealed that family personal significantly influenced an adolescent’s overall life challenges. Background Short-form videos have become one of the most popular ways for people to entertain and relax. However, intense interest in short-form has given rise short-video addiction, which poses risks both physical mental health individuals. Social media addiction (SMA) has become a global phenomenon, affecting individuals worldwide. It adverse effects not only on those who are addicted but also related to them. This study examines the relationship between Dark Tetrad traits (narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and sadism) SMA in Türkiye, typical collectivist society. In addition these dark traits, two situational variables (loneliness boredom life) three demographic control (age, gender, education) were examined. Data collected through an online survey from 247 adults aged 18 above residing Sakarya with response rate of 82%. The findings showed positive significant Machiavellianism sadism SMA.
