Abstract In order to lessen carbon emissions, preserve natural resources, and enhance the planet’s sustainability for future generations, environmentally friendly sustainable composites offer a promising solution that combines technological innovation environmental responsibility. Therefore, current study focused on development of walnut shell (WS) powder as reinforcing additive polypropylene (PP) materials potential automotive applications. Different particle sizes (150, 212, 300) μm content (10, 20, 30, 40 wt%) WS-reinforced PP were investigated. This investigation involved two strategies: The first strategy was determine best WS size loading in matrix. second additives by applying dual treatment methods WS: alkaline microwave chemical physical at same time. Under fixation conditions, different NaOH concentrations 3, 5, 7% applied. extrusion hot compression processes fixed operating conditions used combine all dosages WS/PP composites. mechanical properties tensile, flexural, impact composite strategies studied according ASTM standards D638, D790, D256, respectively. To confirm properties, influence techniques also investigated using physicochemical characterization Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction. Furthermore, compared with real part (automobile steering airbag cover [ASAC]) new results showed obtained 212 μm, 20 wt% achieved highest tensile strength, which increased about 1.2 times strength had treated (WS7Comp) attained throughout other addition, adjusted ASAC properties. improved could be alternative material
