The rapid growth in industrialization and population has resulted the generation permanence of a wide variety inorganic organic pollutants, posing potential risks to environment human health. degradation (either removal or reduction) sensing these pollutants from various environmental media (e.g., air, water, soil) are nowadays important problems worldwide. To address this issue, several nanotechnologies numerous nanostructured materials composites have been established for efficient remediation applications. This is ascribed their large surface area improved characteristics efficiency (like high reactive feature). current chapter reports such as filtration, photocatalysis, chemical reactions, absorption, adsorption, nanosensing, etc. It also offers an overview use environment. Novel materials, involving inorganic-based nanomaterials (NMs) zero-valent metal NMs, oxide-based silica-based NMs), carbon-based polymeric-based well nanocomposites were extensively reported discussed. These efficiently employed remediating halogenated herbicides, volatile compounds, chlorinated aromatic aliphatic hydrocarbons, pharmaceuticals, dyes, heavy metals, biological substances antibiotics, parasites, bacteria, viruses), gases (NOx, CO, SO2, etc.). Their efficiency, advantages, limitations compared Moreover, some directions future studies proposed.

Abstract This study introduces a novel decision support system (DSS) to optimize produced water (PW) management in the offshore oil and gas industry. The DSS integrates field data, specifications, simulation tools quantify performance, forecast operational challenges, operations, evaluate impact of modifications. Field data—including historical predicted production information—is integrated with which detail platform’s equipment, their interconnections, key characteristics. Simulation models, whether physics-based or data-driven, utilize data combined information estimate unmeasured parameters assess performance PW treatment system. Interactive dashboards visualization enhance DSS’s capabilities, enabling experts make informed decisions based on real-time insights. proposed is tested using synthetic modeled real field, considering factors such as scale precipitation, energy consumption, equipment efficiency identify inefficiencies potential risks. alarms recommendations provided by provide insights, controlled adjustments investment while mitigating risks associated ad hoc changes. One straightforward recommendation from was evaluated for its oil-in-water (OiW) measurements at discharge point, demonstrating role enhancing sustainability minimizing environmental impact. results case demonstrate how adjustments, guided DSS, could reduce bottlenecks, potentially prevent short-sighted decisions, enable proactive predicting issues before they escalate. By assessing both current forecasted conditions, enables optimization strategies, evaluating impacts addressing inefficiencies. Unlike traditional, fragmented approaches management, offers holistic, solution interlinking various challenges research highlights advance practices improving efficiency, leading more economically viable operations. Finally, this showcases digital solution.
