New developments in the field of Lewis acidity are highlighted, with focus novel acids and superacids group 2, 13, 14, 15 elements. Several important basics, illustrated by modern examples (classification Donor-Acceptor (DA) complexes, amphoteric nature any compound terms DA interactions, reorganization energies main role frontier orbitals) presented discussed. It is emphasized that phenomena general play vital different areas chemistry: from weak "atomophilic" interactions to complexes superacids.

Dimeric bismuth(III) complexes bearing bis(aryl-imino)acenaphthene (Aryl-BIAN) donor ligands of the general formulae [(Dipp-BIAN)BiCl3]2 2, [(o-iPr-BIAN)BiCl3]2 3, and [(p-iPr-BIAN)BiCl3]2 4, where Dipp = diisopropyl, o-iPr ortho-isopropyl p-iPr para-isopropyl, were prepared by reaction corresponding neutral BIAN ligand with BiCl3, under inert atmosphere conditions. X-ray studies performed, their molecular structures determined. The individual contributions intermolecular interactions to crystal packing have been quantified means Hirsfeld surface analysis.
