Abstract Biofloc technology (BFT) has gained popularity recently as the aquaculture industry faces significant economic losses due to water pollution creating various pathogens. Many bacterial, viral and fungal diseases in fish cause a decrease annual world production. Therefore, owing growing demand for healthy fish, zero‐water exchange is widely practiced shellfish It minimizes release of wastewater into aquatic ecosystem, which contains nutrients, organic matter uses minimal amount land, provides an impartial cost–benefit ratio maintain socio‐economic sustainability. Besides sustainability, cultured BFT have also expressed better health status after being challenged by different However, this review explores use sustainable approach utilization Apart from this, highlights potential enhance production systems discusses factors that affect performance systems, such carbon‐to‐nitrogen ratios, aeration probiotics. investigates role biofloc improving quality, prophylactic properties, its effect on gut microflora. The further examines feasibility about cost‐effectiveness implementing generating additional revenue through sale bioflocs value‐added product. Overall, solution increasing valuable insights affecting suggests areas research development field.

Aquaponics and biofloc are aquaculture techniques for reducing nitrogenous waste with less water exchange. reduces nitrate (NO3-) through the role of vegetable plants, while assimilates ammonia (NH4+) floc-forming bacteria. In this study a collaboration was designed between aquaponics called aquabioponics. This conducted to evaluate performance tilapia production, as well observe dynamics P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu minerals formed in system. used completely randomized design three treatments replications, namely (AP), (BF), aquabioponics (AB). The AP integrates fish tank vegetable, does not use additional organic carbon sources. BF uses addition an source, but integrate vegetables.
