While vitiligo is primarily caused by melanocyte deficiency or dysfunction, recent studies have revealed a notable prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) among patients with vitiligo. This suggests shared pathogenic features between the two conditions. Individuals often exhibit variations in triglyceride levels, cholesterol, and blood pressure, which are also affected MetS. Given similarities their underlying mechanisms, genetic factors, pro-inflammatory signalling pathways, increased oxidative stress, this study aims to highlight common traits systemic disorders. Serum analyses confirmed low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels vitiligo, compared physiological values. In addition, we reported significant decreases folate vitamin D (Vit D) levels. Oxidative stress one causes development syndromes related advancement skin diseases. found high inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-6 (IL-6) chemokine 10 (CXCL10), markers inflammation disease progression. The accumulation insulin growth factor binding proteins 5 (IGFBP5) advanced glycation end products (AGEs) entailed atherosclerosis diabetes onset, respectively, were disclosed blood-associated activity antioxidant enzymes catalase (Cat) superoxide dismutase (SOD) was impaired. Moreover, plasma fatty acid (FAs) profile analysis showed an alteration composition specific estimated activities FAs biosynthetic resembling MetS development, resulting imbalance towards n6-series FAs. These results that could be considered new target for developing more effective therapeutic approach.

Background: Vitiligo is a common chronic hypomelanotic skin disorder. An intricate pool of markers associated with complex combination biological and environmental factors thought to be implicated in etiology. This study aims investigate the most important vitiligo pathogenesis, including redox status, inflammation, immune profile, patients vitiligo. Materials Methods: The included total 96 subjects: 30 active non-segmental vitiligo, stable 36 controls. area severity index (VASI) disease activity score (VIDA) were determined. following serum parameters assessed: antioxidant status (TAS), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glutathione-S-transferase (GST), malondialdehyde (MDA), advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP), C reactive (CRP), interleukin-15 (IL-15), chemokines (CXCL9, CXCL10). Results: VASI was not significantly different between patients, as it approximately 0.1. TAS, CAT, GPx, GST lower compared controls (p < 0.05). Introduction The treatment of vitiligo remains challenging due to the complexity its pathogenesis, influenced by genetic factors, oxidative stress and abnormal cell adhesion that collectively impact melanocyte survival trigger immune system attacks, resulting in death. Melanocytes are believed exhibit susceptibility defects cellular mechanisms, such as autophagy, reduce their ability resist stress, leading increased expression pro-inflammatory protein HSP70. low molecules, DDR1 E-cadherin, accelerates damage antigen exposure. Consequently, autoimmune attacks centered on IFN-γ-CXCR9/10-CXCR3-CD8+ T cells initiated, causing vitiligo.

This review explores the psychosocial impact of vitiligo on patients, its consequences for their quality life, and need holistic support. Vitiligo's burden, driven by to conceal lesions societal beauty ideals, leads stress, sadness, low self-esteem. Social stigma affects self-esteem, especially in cultural contexts, exacerbating culturally sensitive Anxiety depression are common due visible differences pressures. Vitiligo significantly reduces younger impacting daily activities, careers, relationships. Disease severity worsens these effects, particularly areas among individuals with darker skin tones. Long-term disease activity may improve acceptance life. Psychological support counseling crucial, as many patients don't seek medical help. Education plays a key role, improving understanding reducing anxiety. Raising awareness about can challenge perceptions contribute enhancing patients' well-being. In conclusion, this highlights interplay between factors, importance addressing social stigma, providing psychological support, advancing education those vitiligo.

Vitiligo is an acquired depigmentation skin disease caused by the immune-mediated death of melanocytes. It most common cause with estimated worldwide prevalence 1% but has shown insufficient response to current therapies.
