Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) is an essential procedure for the treatment of portal hypertension but can result in hepatic encephalopathy (HE), a serious complication that worsens patient outcomes. Investigating predictors HE after TIPS to improve prognosis. This review analyzes risk factors and compares predictive models, weighing traditional scores such as Child-Pugh, Model End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD), albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) against emerging artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. While provide initial insights into risk, they have limitations dealing with clinical complexity. Advances machine learning (ML), particularly when integrated imaging data, offer refined assessments. These innovations suggest potential AI significantly prediction post-TIPS HE. The study provides clinicians comprehensive overview current methods, while advocating integration increase accuracy By harnessing power AI, better manage risks associated tailor interventions individual needs. Future research should therefore prioritize development advanced frameworks assimilate diverse data streams support decision-making. goal not only more accurately predict HE, also overall care quality life.
