study
examined

pre-gaming

drinking
prior

Qualitative
work
suggests
that
young
people’s
motives
for
playing
drinking
games
(DGs)
extend
beyond
those
assessed
in
the
Motives
Playing
Drinking
Games
(MPDG)
measure.
Using
a
mixed-methods
approach,
we
tested
whether
7-factor
model
of
MPDG
would
emerge
among
university
students
from
Australia,
New
Zealand,
and
Argentina,

open-ended
responses
regarding
reasons

subscales.

Many
young
adults
who
are
enrolled
in
a
university
play
drinking
games
(DG),
risky
practice
that
is
known
to
facilitate
heavy
alcohol
consumption.
