Internet use, specifically problematic use of the internet (PUI), needs to be considered in child and adolescent psychiatric (CAP) settings. Besides psychological symptomatology, childhood trauma (intrafamilial abuse neglect) has been associated with PUI. The impact various adverse experiences (ACEs) on PUI, particularly CAP populations, is understudied. This study aimed investigate associations between PUI ACEs a population, considering gender differences symptomatology. 104 adolescents (69 girls) were included, aged 14-17 years, undergoing inpatient treatment, August 2018 March 2020. Participants completed Interview for Assessment Computer Game Addiction (AICA), Youth Self-Report (YSR), Multidimensional Clinical Screening Inventory (MCSI). Statistical analyses examined ACEs, after controlling age, gender, Extrafamilial emotional was significantly higher AICA scores likelihood separation loss significant decrease Suicide mother increased odds moderate severe School absenteeism alcohol irrespective age though these diminished when abuse, social receptive environments relationships, play role developing among populations. complex interplay trauma, family dynamics, peer relationships individual behaviors regarding should addressed interventions.

Drinking motives and neurocognition play significant roles in predicting alcohol use. There is limited research examining how relief-driven drinking interact with use, which would help to elucidate the neurocognitive-motivational profiles most susceptible harmful drinking. This study investigated interactions between (response inhibition cognitive flexibility) drinking, problem Participants completed Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test – Consumption items (AUDIT-C) measure behaviour, online tasks, including Value-Modulated Attentional Capture Reversal Task (VMAC-R) Stop Signal (SST). Abstract Background and aims Cognitive control reward-related abnormalities are centrally implicated in addiction. However, findings from longitudinal studies addressing neurocognitive predictors of addictive behaviors mixed. Further, little work has been conducted predicting non-substance-related behaviors. Our study aimed to assess substance non-substance a community sample, systematically evaluating each function's independent influence on behavior. Methods Australians ( N = 294; 51.7% female; M[SD] age 24.8[4.7] years) completed online tasks surveys at baseline 3-month follow-up. Self-report scales assessed problematic alcohol use, eating (AE), pornography use (PPU), internet (PUI) 3- 6-month follow-ups. Linear regressions with bootstrapping for behavior across period. Results Neurocognition did not predict AE or PUI severity Less delay discounting predicted higher PPU follow-up β −0.16, p 0.005).
