They often characterized mandibular protrusion relative maxilla, in some cases, features such as elongation lower facial third or chin may also be present. Due their appearance, patients experience range psychosocial emotional difficulties, which have been identified risk factors for problematic internet use (PIU), including depression, negative body image, self-esteem. A cross-sectional study was conducted 170 fully completed questionnaires were obtained, 85 from people with aged 18 42 years, individuals without 40 years. Participants obtained statistically significantly PIU points than participants (p < 0.001). Among 45.9% showed high very Internet addiction, while comparison group, it only 9.4% there significant, although weak, correlation score feeling uncomfortable when being centre attention (rho = 0.284; p 0.01), concern appearance 0.272; 0.05). Abstract Loneliness may lead individuals to spend more time on the internet and increase likelihood of experiencing internet-use disorders. Similarly, with disorders feel lonelier. In present systematic review meta-analysis, pre-registered in PROSPERO (CRD42023390483), we quantified associations between internet-use-disorder symptoms (e.g. gaming disorder online gambling disorder) loneliness. We searched PubMed, Web Science, an institutional database aggregator for references that compared degrees loneliness groups without disorder. Means standard deviations loneliness, or alternatively, odds ratios, were transformed into Cohen’s d statistical pooling through a random-effects model. After screening 2,369 reports, extracted data from 23 studies. The total number across studies was 36,484. Participants 13 30 years age (median 20). pooled difference those yielded standardized effect (Cohen’s d) 0.53 (95% CI 0.35–0.7). While heterogeneity high, there no indication publication small sample biases. Similar sizes found when limiting specific types symptoms. Moreover, meta-regressions did not show age, sex, size. Individuals scored 49.35 (43.84–54.85) points UCLA-Loneliness scale average, 43.78 (37.47–50.08) (Standardized Mean Difference: 5.18, 95% = 2.05–8.34). experience greater appears moderately sized.
