Aquaculture is one of the fastest-growing agricultural sectors globally and becoming increasingly important for producing sustainable healthy diets with relatively low climate impacts. In comparison to livestock production, especially beef, seafood production has lower carbon emissions. Additionally, some species can extract from aquatic environments, contributing an extended cycle. However, potential negative environmental consequences in aquaculture might increase growing global population demand food. Herein, we review effects different products on greenhouse gas (GHG) We also summarize approaches improving footprints mitigating change. Key elements, including feed efficiency, selecting suitable farmed species, implementing farming practices management aquaculture, are discussed, as well trade-offs between capture fisheries. Crucially, performance gaps among underscore consumer-oriented advice significantly reduce uncertainties knowledge related sequestration GHG emissions ponds necessitate further research. Overall, holistic evaluation strategic intervention regarding fundamental essential achieving a sustainable, low-carbon future aquaculture.
