ABSTRACT The grain production growth pathways transition can achieve the dual strategic objectives of increasing and ensuring ecological security by adjusting input structure factors. However, current understanding patterns driving mechanisms remains inadequate, posing challenges to sustainable production. To address this research gap, study establishes a theoretical analysis framework, proposes methods for identifying partitioning, uses panel data reveal transition. main findings indicate that induced substitution directly causes shift in from being driven improvements land productivity labor productivity. This process shows significant differences among crop types regional spatial heterogeneity. primary contribution is its comprehensive behind perspective evolution includes economic‐social, socio‐institutional, environmental‐site dimensions drivers, which influence factors thereby drive We recommend formulating planting plans based on stages implementing differentiated targets subsidy policies various crops regions. These recommendations are valuable promoting

This study conducted a theoretical analysis of the pathways and mechanisms through which farmland transfer influences non-grain production, utilizing county-level panel data from Chongqing, China, spanning 2018 to 2022. Exploratory spatial (ESDA) random-effects models were employed reveal characteristics production (NGPFT). The findings indicated: (1) NGPFT in Chongqing showed significant clustering, with high values Metropolitan Developed Economic Area low Three Gorges Reservoir Urban Agglomeration. (2) Farmland didn't directly cause but adjustments factors changes recipients indirectly affected it. (3) Higher farmland-transfer rents exacerbated trend towards production. (4) There was heterogeneity impact different on Specifically, ordinary farmers had inhibiting effect while agricultural enterprises other entities positive effect. Family farms farmers' cooperatives no impact. Suggestions include harnessing transfer's effects resource allocation, being vigilant against land rents' crowding-out grain preventing large-scale by entities, encouraging farmers, family farms, engage
