The marine red algae Kappaphycus alvarezii (KA), commonly known as cottonii, is a valuable resource with diverse applications. Research has primarily focused on its primary metabolites such amino acids, proteins, plant hormones etc. Additionally, KA also produces secondary under stress, some of which exhibit antioxidant and antibacterial properties. This review provides comprehensive overview recent in vitro vivo research KA, delving into their therapeutic effects potential pharmaceutical study followed through literature survey three databases. From the obtained literature, studies fitting criteria were reviewed. explores underlying mechanisms behind algae's characteristics. results show that for applications, but deeper exploration various rigorous are necessary thorough understanding capabilities.
