Market demand, climate change and soil degradation force producers to maintain the productivity quality of high-market-value products, such as Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) fruits. "Maçã de Alcobaça" apples produced in central-western part Portugal, namely variety Royal Gala, one PGI varieties with higher are among those requirements terms fertilization high demanded by market. In present work, three different NPK schemes were applied experimental orchards within area (1 x mineral proposed for integrated production, an intermediate strategy that included organic granular amendment 2 NPK), elemental profiles apple pulps analysed compared. Some elements improved their concentration due interactions these fertilizer components (namely, nitrogen, potassium phosphorus) or potential changes bioavailability application. From a nutritional perspective, enhancing profile can be achieved applying 1 fertilization. Consuming average fruits daily (160 g each) would then help meet percentage most essential crucial human nutrition. Also, noteworthy mention, none tested practices led reduction when compared condition. The work also had objective evaluating if induced have implications authenticity signatures previously developed. Using Partial Least Squares-Discriminant Analysis (PLS-DA) models calibrated non-PGI (from North Portugal Italy) samples feeding data collected from fertilized blind samples, it was possible observe all trials correctly classified samples. This reinforces edaphic characteristics cultivation area's prevalent role over effect physiological trait changes, shaping signature found mostly influence geologically linked (such Rb, Pb Y) discrimination sample provenance. allows us confirm suitability traceability validation, ensuring its provenance consumers maintaining market value even fight less favourable conditions.
