The prevailing trend toward the increased application of natural polysaccharides in food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical sectors has provided impetus for exploring sustainable biological feedstocks. Amongst them, photoautotrophic microalgae have garnered huge research commercial interests polysaccharide production by photosynthesis, thereby concurrently attaining carbon sequestration green valuable metabolites. However, conventional approaches enhancing accumulation warrant adverse conditions, which turn hinder cellular growth productivity. Hence, there exists a pressing demand to harness biotechnological empowering photosynthetic algae as feedstock production. Meanwhile, it remains an untapped tool microalgal products, despite recent advancements synthetic biology. In this review, we discuss existing intricacies biosynthetic circuits propose crucial strategies circumvent those techno-biological complexities. We also highlight possible circumventing such limitations successfully employ metabolic engineering large-scale polysaccharides. technologically feasible directions unleashing potential cell factories are projected biosynthesis
