Nowadays it has become particularly valuable to control the Particulate Matter (PM) emissions from road transport sector, especially in vehicle powertrains with an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE). However, almost no publication focused on a comparison of microscopic characteristics gasoline and ethanol spray under injection pressure conditions more than 30 MPa, except impingement process. By using Phase Doppler Particles Analyser (PDPA) system, Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) injector (PI) up 50 MPa was fully explored this research. The experimental results demonstrate that same PI, second peak probability (pd) curves droplet normal velocity for is slightly higher ethanol. Moreover, exceeds by about 5.4% regarding average tangential at mm jet downstream. Compared ethanol, pd curve’s diameter (0, 50) 1.3 percentage points average, overall Sauter mean smaller. increasing PI 10 regions “100 ≤ Weber number (We) < 1000” “We ≥ increases 23%, large droplets over 20 μm shows significant reduction. This research would provide novel insights into deeper understanding between ultra-high PI. Additionally, help theoretical framework practical strategies reduce PM passenger vehicles, which significantly contribute protection sustainability environment.
