BACKGROUND Electronic health literacy (eHL) has been increasingly associated with health-related quality of life (HRQoL). However, the underlying mechanisms, especially in general population, remain insufficiently explored. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to investigate mediating role self-management behaviors (HSMB) relationship between eHL and HRQoL. METHODS A cross-sectional was conducted Shanghai, China, from October December 2022. Validated scales, including eHealth Literacy Scale (eHEALS), Adults Health Self-Management Skill Rating (AHSMSRS), 12-item Short Form Survey (SF-12) were utilized measure eHL, HSMB, HRQoL, respectively. The HRQoL summarized into Physical Component Summary (PCS) Mental (MCS). Correlation analysis, multivariate linear regression stepwise backward selection, mediation analysis performed explore relationships among PCS, MCS, adjustments for sociodemographic covariates. RESULTS Among 2,364 participants recruited urban, peri-urban, rural areas, scores varied significantly by demographic characteristics. Positive correlations HSMB PCS MCS observed, spearman correlation coefficients ranging 0.24 0.46 (p < 0.001). Multivariate showed that positively (β=0.14, p<0.001) (β=0.23, p<0.001). Mediation indicated had a significant direct (PCS: ; MCS: ) an indirect effect on through ). CONCLUSIONS demonstrated positive association acting as partial mediator within population Shanghai. Targeted interventions should be implemented improve HSMB.
