Re-entrant jet causes cloud cavitation shedding, and cavitating vortical flow results in field instability. In the present work, a method of water injection is proposed to hinder re-entrant suppress vortex NACA66 (MOD) hydrofoil (Re = 5.1 × 105, σ 0.83). A combination filter-based density corrected turbulence model (FBDCM) with Zwart–Gerber–Belamri (ZGB) adopted obtain transient characteristics while structures are identified by Q criterion & λ2 criterion. Results demonstrate that injected reduces range low-pressure zone below 1940 Pa on suction surface 54.76%. Vortex observed both inside attached shedding cavitation, shrinks region. The successfully blocks generating favorable pressure gradient (FPG) effectively weakens intensity 46.98%. distribution area near surface, which makes boundary layer more stable. From an energy transfer perspective, supplies near-wall flow, hence keeps steadiness field.

Abstract It has been confirmed that the passive obstacles would substantially depress leading-edge cavitation in a waterjet pump. Combined with experiments and numerical simulations, this work revisits blade evolutions to demonstrate stabilizing effects of on unsteadiness. The multiscale proper orthogonal decomposition (mPOD) ensemble empirical mode (EEMD) are adopted study energy contributions regarding cavitation-induced loading thrust. mPOD modes illuminate oscillations obstacle consequently eliminated where is completely depressed wakes greatly contribute excitation. thrust statistics extremes standard deviation some revolutions can be well reduced as large-scale cavity depression. adaptive spectra obtained by EEMD further both tonal broadband components reasonably degraded degree. pump only one implementation, an improvement strategy, comparatively studied indicates single configuration presents positive depression owing pressure-raising reduce un-necessary loss compared two obstacles.
