The COVID-19 pandemic caused lifestyle changes, with unknown effect on pets’ quality of life (QoL). Between May and July 2020, we distributed an online survey to investigate the role several factors feline canine QoL, including lockdown-related factors. We used existing scales measure human personalities (Reinforcement Sensitivity Theory Personality Questionnaire, RST-PQ; RST-Dog; RST-Cat) human–animal relationship (Lexington Attachment Pets Scale, LAPS) Milan Pet Quality Life instrument (MPQL). Overall, 235 participants reported about 242 adult pets (Ncats = 78, Ndogs 164). Factor analysis confirmed structure internal reliability (RST-PQ, RST-Dog, RST-Cat, suggested a four-factor for MPQL (physical, psychological, social, environmental). results indicate that psysical QoL was largely explained by pet-related elements (pets’ demographics experience, personality). Conversely, psychological mostly owner-related elements, such as owners’ demographics, COVID-19-related personality. Predictably, environmental is factors, outdoor access in home environment country. Abstract The Five Freedoms, Domains, Welfare Needs, and other similar models or principles, are key aspirational outcome-led frameworks aimed at safeguarding animals under human custodianship, widely used in legislation, guidance documents, protocols.
