ABSTRACT This preliminary study aimed to investigate the mitigation effect of silicon (Si) on field dodder‐induced stress in sugar beet. The experiment was conducted as a completely randomized design with three factors, including parasitic infection (non‐parasitized and dodder‐parasitized beet), Si source (5 mM form Na 2 SiO 3 or K ), application method (control, seed pretreatment, irrigation, foliar spraying). Without Si, dodder caused 44.9% reduction shoot biomass 57.5% root biomass. Although pretreating seeds solutions accelerated emergence, it did not significantly influence any other traits measured Sugar beets that received through irrigation exhibited better protection against than those were sprayed; furthermore, proved be more effective . Irrigating spraying beet reduced by 60%–65%, while ranged from 20% 35% highest lignin content observed watering , resulting 4.2‐fold increase 3.8‐fold spraying. Field led increased activity enzymes involved scavenging reactive oxygen species, catalase, guaiacol peroxidase, superoxide dismutase, lipoxygenase further activities dismutase lipoxygenase. suggests irrigating can help reduce damage However, additional research is necessary evaluate crop's response at level.
