Abstract Tetraploid oysters are artificially produced that do not exist in nature. The successful breeding of 100% triploid resolved the difficulties with traditional drug–induced triploids such as presence drug residues and low induction rate. However, little is known concerning biochemical composition nutrient contents tetraploids. Therefore, we investigated compositional differences among diploid, triploid, tetraploid Crassostrea gigas well between males females diploids findings indicated glycogen, EPA, ∑PUFA Omega-3 were significantly higher than diploid or tetraploid; had C14:0, essential amino acid, flavor-presenting acid triploids, while highest protein content. For both tetraploids, levels glutamate, methionine, phenylalanine but lower glycine alanine. In addition, female more DHA, omega-3 total fatty acids, a result may be due to fact gonadal development male requires energy sustain growth, consumes greater amounts nutrients, accumulates proteins. With these results, important information provided for production C. , basis backing genetic oysters.
