Purpose Over the last 2 decades, supply chain sustainability research has become a highly dynamic and fruitful study area. This field garnered significant attention due to its potential reshape decision-making processes within chains. At same time, practical side of operations remains intensely competitive in today’s business landscape. Furthermore, current academic aims outline effective strategies for achieving across chains, particularly manufacturing sector. In response these challenges, this conducted an integrated multi-criteria approach evaluate sustainable performance from triple bottom line perspective, including financial, environmental, social performance. Design/methodology/approach The initial stage involves selecting crucial criteria (short-term long-term) alternatives (SSCP) experts conducting in-depth literature review. Initially, there were 17 criteria, but after pilot test with co-authors online discussions experts, number was subsequently reduced 9. second phase, Best-Worst Method (BWM) applied rank prioritize criteria. third final examined causal relationship between identified utilizing Decision-Making Trial Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) technique. Findings Based on BWM analysis results, top three terms prominence are: (1) return investment (ROI), (2) product quality, (3) lead time. Out alternatives, financial (FP) is most dimension SSCP, followed by environmental (ENP) (SP). On other hand, DEMATEL showed that work health safety criterion), asset utilization (long-term energy consumption waste disposal time on-time delivery criterion) are categorized cause group, while such as (ROI) customer-service level quality fall into effect group. Research limitations/implications proposed certain drawbacks pave way future directions. First, it worth noting need larger sample size ensure reliability inclusion additional enhance assessment performance, consideration qualitative gain deeper insights outcomes. addition, fuzziness subjective perception could be imperative when collecting data reliability, translating experts’ perceptions exact numerical values can challenging because human often carry elements uncertainty or vagueness. Therefore, fuzzy MCDM frameworks better suited handle uncertainties involved perceptions, making more appropriate scenarios where traditional methods may prove insufficient. Practical implications framework will enable decision-makers how various decision impact thus providing comprehensive evaluation SSCP considers multiple dimensions, Originality/value first empirical integrate both approaches context.

Accurate and objective evaluation of existing bridges is critical for ensuring the bridge’s safety optimizing maintenance strategies. This study proposes an integrated Fuzzy Best Worst Method fuzzy comprehensive (FBWM-FCE) model to evaluate uncertainties in expert judgments complex decision-making. A four-layer indicator system five distinct grades were established, aligned with JTG 5120-2004 JTG/T H21-2011 standards. The FBWM innovatively employs triangular numbers (TFNs) reduce linguistic cognitive bias bridge evaluation. Subsequently, by integrating FCE multi-level operations, method translates qualitative evaluations into quantitative using membership matrices weights. case Ding Jia Bridge Jigongling validated FBWM-FCE model, revealing Class III (fail condition), consistent on-site inspections 2020 Inspection Evaluation Report (Highway Administration Hubei Provincial Department Transportation). Comparative analysis demonstrated FBWM’s operational efficiency, requiring 20% fewer pairwise comparisons than AHP while maintaining higher consistency BWM. model’s reliability stems from its systematic handling epistemic uncertainties, offering a high reduction procedural complexity compared standardized methods. These advancements provide scientifically rigorous yet practical tool management, balancing computational efficiency accuracy support decisions.
