Purpose This study aims to explore the tower crane safety factors (TCSFs) that influence safe operations (TCSOs) in modular integrated construction (MiC). It evaluates how adoption of these contributes achieving TCSOs and promoting sustainable practices (SPs) within MiC. Design/methodology/approach To achieve this aim, employed a systematic search ensure comprehensive collection variables. Additionally, it conducted questionnaire survey involving professionals utilized brainstorming technique categorize different Finally, partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was test relationship between SPs. Findings The results measurement models indicated strong convergent discriminant validity, with each observed variable correlating well its latent variable. Moreover, significant positive correlation SPs evidenced by path coefficient (β = 0.755) p -value <0.05. Lastly, model revealed independent variables strongly dependent (i.e. SPs) 57%, underscoring safety's pivotal role advancing sustainability MiC projects. These findings provide empirical evidence improving can directly enhance practices, offering dual benefit increased for sector. Originality/value makes unique previously undiscovered contribution field identifying TCSFs employing novel approach utilizing PLS-SEM create mathematical model. offers valuable insights into TCSFs, SPs, thus contributing methodological advancements Safety Science providing foundation future research practical implementation industry.

With the expansion of high-rise building construction in China, tower cranes have become indispensable key equipment industry. To ensure safety and structural reliability under complex working conditions, this paper takes a typical 40 m-high flat-arm crane as research object. For first time, orthogonal test method was used to monitor stress components (the root body boom). The distribution characteristics structure different conditions were systematically analyzed. Then, based on power spectral density analysis method, natural frequency identified. influence parameters, such lifting position, rope length, weight, quantitatively studied through experiments, revealing multi-parameter coupling effect. results show that at measuring point is significantly higher than boom. This indicates primary stress-bearing part structure, highlighting need focus its fatigue performance assessment. Based crane, frequencies accurately first-order 0.10 Hz, second-order 0.20 providing data support for study crane’s dynamic characteristics. shows influences weight are consistent, with no significant differences. effects position length dominant, while relatively small. These findings provide an important basis lightweight design assessment cranes.
