The indiscriminate discharge of common dyes, such as malachite green (MG), poses significant risks to water quality and human health. To address this issue, a biochar (MBC) was synthesized from waste Myriophyllum aquaticum biomass (MAB) further activated with KOH produce micro-mesoporous (KMBC) enhanced adsorption efficiency. Characterization results demonstrated that KMBC exhibits higher specific surface area (1632.7 m2/g) larger pore volume (0.759 cm3/g) compared MBC. Batch experiments revealed the process follows pseudo-second-order kinetics Langmuir isotherm model, theoretical maximum capacities MBC reaching 1772.3 mg/g 2570.7 mg/g, respectively is spontaneous, endothermic, entropy-driven process. Key mechanisms involved in include hydrogen bonding, hydrophobic interactions, complexation. Due electrostatic attraction, selective confirmed can effectively separate cationic dyes MG mixed anionic-cationic systems. Dynamic showed breakthrough curve data fit well Thomas model. In summary, MAB-derived demonstrates potential for practical applications treatment MG-contaminated wastewater.
