Background:
Traumatic
brain
injury
(TBI)
is
one
of
the
main
causes
death
in
trauma
pathology,
especially
among
youngest
victims.
After
having
evaluated
causality
relationship
between
damage
to
tissue
and
death,
pathologists
should
try
estimate
duration
TBI
death.
Immunohistochemistry
could
be
used
this
field
as
a
personalized
medico-legal
approach.
This
study
aims
evaluate
possible
role
vimentin
p53
markers
assess
vitality
date
TBI.
Methods:
Twelve
cases
deaths
were
selected
(two
women
ten
men,
with
mean
age
46.83
years).
In
seven
cases,
occurred
immediately
after
trauma,
while
others,
some
days.
An
immunohistological
samples
using
anti-p53
anti-vimentin
antibodies
was
performed.
A
semi-quantitative
scale
adopted
grade
immunohistochemical
reaction.
Results:
Our
results
showed
strong
immunoreaction
(X-squared
value
10.971,
p-value
<
0.01),
suggesting
that
expression
enhanced
cases.
Vimentin
more
expressed
when
PTI
longer.
Vimentin-immunoreaction
weaker
than
p53-immunoreaction
(+0.75
vs.
+1.83
values,
respectively)
group

short
post-traumatic

Conclusions:
The
present
research
limited
by
small
sample
size;
