The canonical functions of vimentin in cell mechanics and migration have been recently expanded by the discovery new roles for extracellular (ECV) immune responses to infection, injury cancer. In contrast with predominantly filamentous form intracellular vimentin, ECV exists largely as soluble oligomers. release from intact cells is dependent on mechanisms that regulate assembly disassembly which are influenced discrete post-translational modifications. this review we highlight processes promote conversion insoluble filaments secretion mechanisms. Insights into regulation stromal could provide diagnostic therapeutic approaches assessing controlling inflammatory diseases.

Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the main causes death in trauma pathology, especially among youngest victims. After having evaluated causality relationship between damage to tissue and death, pathologists should try estimate duration TBI death. Immunohistochemistry could be used this field as a personalized medico-legal approach. This study aims evaluate possible role vimentin p53 markers assess vitality date TBI. Methods: Twelve cases deaths were selected (two women ten men, with mean age 46.83 years). In seven cases, occurred immediately after trauma, while others, some days. An immunohistological samples using anti-p53 anti-vimentin antibodies was performed. A semi-quantitative scale adopted grade immunohistochemical reaction. Results: Our results showed strong immunoreaction (X-squared value 10.971, p-value < 0.01), suggesting that expression enhanced cases. Vimentin more expressed when PTI longer. Vimentin-immunoreaction weaker than p53-immunoreaction (+0.75 vs. +1.83 values, respectively) group predominantly including short post-traumatic interval Conclusions: The present research limited by small sample size; however, molecules tested, p53, have shown great potential used, addition biological for diagnosis timing
