Abstract
Low-
and
middle-income
countries
in
Southeast
East
Asia
face
a
range
of
challenges
related
to
the
rapid
pace
urbanisation
region,
scale
pollution,
climate
change,
loss
ecosystem
services

pathways
towards
more
sustainable

Belt
and
Road
Initiative
(BRI)
will
play
an
essential
role
in
boosting
the
world's
economy.
However,
main
portion
of
(B&R)
is
arid,
semi-arid,
or
sub-humid
fragile
ecological
regions,
which
with
global
climate
change
intensification
human
activities
face
many
pressing
environmental
challenges
future.
Despite
this,
existing
research
on
B&R,
papers
field
natural
sciences
are
less
than
1.2–4.3%
total
number
databases,
far
lower
coverage
humanities
social
sciences.
And
those
focused
issues
along
B&R
even
fewer,
so
necessary
understanding
both
risks
adequate
mitigation
measures

unclear.

eco-environments
summarizes

patterns

Indonesia

city

Kalimantan,
Borneo,
bringing

it
major
urban

road
infrastructure.
Yet,

diverse

implications

development
for
wildlife
have
yet
be
fully
assessed.

impacts

mammals

trap

11
forested
landscapes.

we

symposium

advance
knowledge
on
environmental
governance

overseas
engagement.

fast-growing
investments
