Abstract Revealing the mechanisms underlying community organization has long been a central interest for ecologists and biogeographers. Recent findings have suggested that different dimensions of biodiversity may be shaped by contrasting ecological processes, offering complementary insights about assembly. However, studies integrating multiple diversity facets across Qinghai‐Tibetan Plateau (QTP) remain insufficient. We combined analytical frameworks to unravel patterns (taxonomic, functional phylogenetic) correlates (local environment, land use dispersal pathways) aquatic arthropod in lotic (stream) lentic (wetland) ecosystems QTP. observed strong phylogenetic signals most traits, pointing influence evolutionary processes on these faunas. Null models indicated structure streams wetlands was mostly result random draws from regional species pool. The prevalence stochasticity likely associated with interplay paleogeographical history, extremely harsh environmental conditions at high elevations subsequent impoverishment some also exhibited overdispersion clustering, emphasizing potential importance competitive exclusion habitat filtering, respectively. Variation partitioning further revealed both filtering limitation accounted spatial variation measures, local environment overriding effects space catchment use. Overall, this study improves our understanding environmentally extreme alpine catchments, broad implications conservation management one world’s important high‐altitude treasures.
