Abstract Biomass has become a key contender in the race to find sustainable energy options, as we move toward more environmentally friendly future. This extensive assessment explores potential of biomass transform global landscape. We have examined different conversion technologies, including thermal technologies such combustion and gasification, well biochemical anaerobic digestion biofuel production, delved into renewable nature biomass, which is derived from organic sources agricultural residues, forestry waste, special crops. highlight adaptability for production energy, heat, biofuels. Furthermore, evaluated socioeconomic environmental impacts use, greenhouse gas emissions, land community effects. To increase source, it essential understand how these three factors interact. maximize while curtailing problems, this review examines obstacles, ongoing research, recent developments effective biomass-based systems. Indonesia possesses the greatest potential in world for bio-compressed natural gas (bio-CNG). This bio-CNG is purified from biogas that generated decomposing organic liquid waste at palm oil mills (POMs). Unfortunately, this great has not been utilized much due to several obstacles such as remote location of POMs, transportation mode, and utilization purposes. These factors have a significant impact on feasibility selling prices. However, case study conducted Riau province showed by clustering selecting appropriate modes, generating additional income carbon trading, price can be achieved. The resulted obtaining two clusters seven POMs were spread over 30km radius Pekanbaru City. Bio-CNG substitute 97 % gasoil bus fuel, trucking was found result lowest price, which 10.7 USD/MMBTU. With minimum reach 4.84 contributes reducing greenhouse emissions, which, turn, increase economic value bio-CNG. pattern usage selection mentioned above should considered when utilizing resulting biogas-POME purification. It still necessary provide supportive policies government.

Hydrogen as an energy vector is going to play important role in the global mix. On other hand, wastewater management has become a worldwide concern, urban settlements have been considerably increasing for decades. Consequently, biodigestion produce biogas (rich methane) water treatment plants could be interesting starting point obtain valuable gas that can converted into hydrogen through steam reforming. The aim of this work was review main aspects concerning reforming from plants. For purpose, whole chain, production and purification, considered, paying attention challenges new technologies its optimization. Thus, wide range possibilities offered, direct use syngas high purification (mainly pressure swing adsorption or membrane reactors), presenting advantages disadvantages. In any case, catalysts seems essential, such sulfide coke deposition control should addressed. conclusion, applied reality, with serious implementation at industrial level, according techno-economic assessment.

Most studies on biomass-based adsorbents for CO2 capture and biogas upgrading focus adsorption equilibrium data from pure gas isotherms at various temperatures under static conditions. However, to assess the performance of these in more realistic conditions, dynamic CH4/CO2 are necessary, as cyclic processes better simulate practical separation scenarios. In this study, we examine whether can compete with traditional real processes. A typical pressure-vacuum swing (PVSA) process was simulated evaluate three adsorbents. The effects parameters purity recovery CH4 were analysed. highest methane achieved by cashew-derived adsorbent 88%, a approximately 53%.

Biogas produced by anaerobic digestion contains different types of contaminants, and it is preferable to eliminate those contaminants before biogas’ energetic valorization or upgrading biomethane as they are harmful human health detrimental combustion engines. This study presents the biogas cleanup system optimized an Italian full-scale digester treating food waste (FW) represented micro-oxygenation, chemical scrubber, cooling, activated carbon sections. The cleaned upgraded using a membrane-based unit injected into natural gas network for transport sector use. H2S volatile organic compound (VOC) concentration in raw was reduced from annual average value 1207 ppmv 895 mg/Nm3, respectively, below 0.1 mg/Nm3 final biomethane. In summer, content 833 due greater presence low-sulfur-containing vegetables FW, while winter 1581 larger portion protein-containing FW.
