Abstract In this double-blind placebo-controlled randomised intervention we investigated the potential benefits of a prebiotic supplement on children’s well-being in home setting. The primary aim was to determine if could effectively reduce anxiety, improve mood, and enhance cognitive function, similar findings young adults. Fifty-three healthy children, aged 6 14, participated an 8-week trial. trial consisted three testing time points; day zero marked baseline measurement (T1) followed by 28-day period during which they consumed 5.5 grams galactooligosaccharides (GOS) daily under parental guidance. Endline measures (T2) were conducted last consumption, with final follow-up session (T3) 56. Primary outcomes trait anxiety using questionnaire emotional behavior dot-probe task responses positive negative images. Secondary encompassed depression levels, function tests, dietary intake recorded 4-day food diary. Additionally, explored whether parents’ had impact responses. While our statistical analysis did not reveal significant effects GOS, there noteworthy trends. Trait levels decreased over both groups, more pronounced decrease GOS group. group exhibited reduced compared placebo group, post-trial time. Although correlated various influence effects. conclusion, these suggest trends line hypotheses however further investigation greater power would be beneficial.

Abstract Predictors for the pharmacological effect of ADHD medication in children and adolescents are lacking. This study examined clinically relevant factors a large (N = 638) prospective cohort reflecting real-world evidence. Children aged 6–17 diagnosed with were evaluated at baseline three months following initiation. The outcome was measured as reduction total SNAP-IV (Swanson Nolan Pelham teacher parent rating scale) score compared to baseline. Outcome groups defined Responders (≥ 40% reduction), Intermediate 20 < Non-responders (< 20% reduction). Included independent variables Autism Spectrum Questionnaire (ASSQ), Spence Children’s Anxiety Scale (SCAS), Pediatric Side Effect Checklist (P-SEC), anthropometrics measures, geographical region, relative age, Children´s Global Assessment (CGAS), Intelligence quotient (IQ), treatment initiation month, symptom severity, presentation, psychotic-like experiences. Multinomial logistic regression suggested that stating three-month follow-up associated response group. However, when validating data Bootstrap Forest, none significant. Thus, our naturalistic cohort, we could not identify any reliably predict outcomes. Trial registration : NCT02136147.
