this
article,
I
explore
how
some
of
the
more
recent
developments
in
neuroscience
based
understanding
human
brain
and
body
functioning
both
illuminates
underpins
aspects
psychotherapeutic
practice.
Psychotherapists
have
accumulated
much
wisdom
about
people
their
relationships,
on
observation
fine-tuned
feedback
from
therapy
always
known
that
relational
stress
high
levels
arousal
impact
intimate
communication
difficult
moments
–
it
slows
information
processing,
makes
harder
to
read
facial
cues
likely
we
become
preoccupied
with
our
own
affective
state,
along
a
self-defensive
impediment
listening.
Our
increased
knowledge
these
states
helps
guide
therapist
client
effective
action.
It
is
my
contention
systemic
training
needs
include
physiology
anatomy
as
core
part
learning.
