The shift from conventional wastewater treatment plants to biorefineries is one of the most environmentally and economically sustainable pathways for extracting valuable compounds waste. Besides chemical-physical processes, microorganisms within sewage sludge utilize organic inorganic pollutants in as nutrients, leading effective water purification. However, remaining solid residue, typically destined specific landfills or incineration, could undergo microbial fermentation produce volatile fatty acids (VFA), metabolic precursors biopolymers. Increasing attention has been directed towards optimizing operational parameters enhance VFA production during fermentation. This study examined impact potassium permanganate (PP) on communities sludge's acidogenic results highlighted positive effect PP treatment, which increased COD yield up 1263.5 mg/L 664.2 mg COD/L, respectively. presence significantly enhances promoting bacteria positively linked production.
