Navicula sp., a type of benthic diatom, plays crucial role in the carbon cycle as widely distributed algae water bodies, making it an essential primary producer context global neutrality. However, using erythromycin (ERY) and levofloxacin (LEV) medicine, livestock, aquaculture has introduced new class pollutants known antibiotic pollutants, which pose potential threats to human animal health. This study aimed investigate toxic effects ERY LEV, individually or combination, on growth, antioxidant system, chlorophyll synthesis, various cell osmotic pressure indexes (such soluble protein, proline, betaine) sp. The results indicated that (1 mg/L), LEV (320 their combined could inhibit growth Interestingly, combination these two drugs exhibited time-dependent effect synthesis with inhibiting process while promoted it. Furthermore, after 96 h exposure drugs, activities GSH-Px, POD, CAT, contents MDA, betaine increased. Conversely, actions GST GSH protein decreased group. In group, POD CAT GSH, increased, decreased. mixed group increased activity betaine, protein. These findings suggest antibiotics found pharmaceutical personal care products (PPCPs) can harm marine eukaryotes. from research possible hazards linked medications aquatic ecosystems offer valuable knowledge for ensuring safe application environmental contexts.
