Although many source waterbodies face nitrogen pollution problems, the lack of organic electron donors causes difficulties when aerobic denitrifying bacteria are used to treat micro-polluted water. Different forms iron with granular activated carbon (AC) as carriers were stimulate aboriginal microorganisms for purification Compared iron-absent AC system, targeted pollutants significantly removed (75.76% nitrate nitrogen, 95.90% total phosphorus, and 80.59% chemical oxygen demand) in sponge-iron-modified which indicated that promoted physical removal pollutants. In addition, high-throughput sequencing showed bacterial distribution interaction changed by ion dosage, was beneficial pollutant transformation reduction. Microbial functions, such expression functional enzymes responsible ammonia, highly efficient iron-applied systems. This study provides an innovative strategy strengthen situ remediation micro-pollution waterbodies.
