Abstract Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted great interest in photocatalysis, but their activity is hampered by the issue of severe carrier recombination. Here, through a carboxyl group assisted coordination route, MXene decorated with groups provides chelation sites enabling UiO‐66‐NH 2 (Zr/Ti) (UZT) to fabricate tightly connected (Zr/Ti)/carboxyl‐functionalized (UZT/CFMX) heterostructure. This first instance direct chemical bonding MOFs‐involved heterostructure via bond. The critical role can be determined so that 1) these help establish strong bond between two materials; 2) act as bridge promote electrons transfer from MOFs MXene, thus relieving recombination, and 3) most interestingly, carbon atom on forms oxygen water stimulating dissociate into OH* H*, adding additional reaction pathways for promoting photocatalytic splitting. Accordingly, resulting UZT/CFMX shows efficient solar‐driven performance H evolution rate high 2187 µmol g −1 h , 20 times higher than UZT 4 (Zr/Ti)/MXene (UZT/MX), also surpassing majority reported MOF‐based photocatalysts.
