Abstract The toxicity of heavy metals motivated the synthesis coconut shell‐based activated carbon (CSAC) through single‐stage microwave irradiation technique to scavenge cadmium ions (Cd(II)). Response surface methodology revealed optimum radiation power and time which translated into 85.45 % Cd(II) removal 41.78 CSAC's yield. Isotherm kinetic data were best described by Freundlich pseudo‐first‐order (PFO) models, respectively. changes enthalpy, entropy, activation energy determined as well reduction CSAC yield after six regeneration cycles.

Abstract Metronidazole is a type of antibiotic that commonly used to treat bacterial infections in both humans and animals. The objective this study was eliminate MDZ from aqueous solutions using MRM. To gain better understanding the adsorption mechanism, we utilized kinetic isotherm models investigate factors affect removal MDZ. Box–Behnken model design experimental factors, which included initial concentration (ranging 5 80 mg/L), MRM dose 0.1 0.7 g/L), reaction time 10 60 min), pH 4 10). Analysis adsorbent FESEM, FTIR, EDX, DLS, zeta potential provided valuable insights into its morphology, surface properties, functional groups, size, electrical charge. Acid modification red mud increased porosity number pores on surface, thereby enhancing ability adsorb antibiotic. FTIR spectrum displays various bands corresponding different such as O–H, Si(Al)–O, Fe–O, carbonate groups. EDX analysis revealed composition includes carbon, oxygen, nitrogen elements. DLS data demonstrate impact particle size electric charge maximum MDZ, 69.87%, achieved at an 42.5 mg/L, 7, contact 35 min, 0.4 g/L. follows pseudo-second-order Langmuir model. capacity found be 6.04 mg/g. findings indicate successfully removes solutions.
