Huge amounts of noxious chemicals from coal and petrochemical refineries pharmaceutical industries are released into water bodies. These highly toxic cause adverse effects on both aquatic terrestrial life. The removal hazardous contaminants industrial effluents is expensive environmentally driven. majority the technologies applied nowadays for phenols other based physio-chemical processes such as solvent extraction, chemical precipitation, adsorption. efficiency chemicals, especially phenols, low with these when concentrations very low. Furthermore, major drawbacks high operation costs inadequate selectivity. To overcome limitations, researchers applying biological membrane together, which gaining more attention because their ease use, selectivity, effectiveness. In present review, microbial degradation phenolics in combination intensified bioreactors (MBRs) has been discussed. Important factors, including origin mode phenols' biodegradation well characteristics optimal phenolic considered. modifications MBRs various wastewater sources have also addressed this review article. economic analysis cost benefits MBR technology compared conventional treatments discussed extensively.
