El compostaje es una de las alternativas biotecnológicas más aplicadas para el tratamiento y valorización los residuos verdes (RV). Sin embargo, su transformación un reto, debido a características fisicoquímicas RV que afectan tiempos del proceso la calidad producto. Esto limita aplicación esta tecnología en países desarrollo como Colombia. Este artículo presenta aportes alrededor avances investigación RV, con base resultados seis años estudios realizados por autores. Se aborda reflexión sobre: i) análisis fisicoquímica sustratos, ii) evaluación estrategias mejorar producto, iii) perspectivas sobre implementadas hasta momento. Los investigaciones muestran diferentes escalas han sido efectiva reducir (entre 43 67 días), condiciones higienización material (temperatura rangos termofílico mayor tiempo (6 días adicionales) comparado tratamientos sin estrategias) cumplimiento estándares La propone nuevas continuar mejoramiento entre se abordan temas asociados uso co-sustratos, aditivos, inóculos bacterianos, así producto empleo herramientas optimización RV. Estos ayudan posicionar opción adecuada manejo fracción lignocelulósica presente sólidos municipales (RSM).
