Abstract Biochar is a promising pyrolysed carbon-enriched soil amendment and has excellent properties for agriculture production to remediate environmental pollution. A set of reviews were conducted on biochar by pyrolysis process from various waste biomass which drawn extensive interest due the low cost with several benefits. As many potential technologies have been developed, there are still knowledge gaps that identified some key points contribute comprehensive study towards fertility, nutrient water retention, microbial activity, plant growth yield, pollution remediation, mitigation greenhouse gas emission an improvement in farmer’s economy achieve maximum profit adopting environmentally friendly technique “pyrolysis”. Therefore, this review explored detailed food its impact different applications as amendment. Slow at medium temperatures remediation enhancing like carbon, BET surface area, cation exchange capacity, zeta potential, content, etc. minimum ash content. The enhances retention crop improved community quality. Additionally, realistic adsorbent economical carbon sequester mitigate GHG emissions. This brief assessment future research directions researchers, encouraging investigators, stakeholders, policymakers make best possible decision valorization.

Nitrogen and phosphorus play essential roles in ecosystems organisms. However, with the development of industry agriculture recent years, excessive N P have flowed into water bodies, leading to eutrophication, algal proliferation, red tides, which are harmful aquatic Biochar has a high specific surface area, abundant functional groups, porous structure, can effectively adsorb nitrogen water, thus reducing environmental pollution, achieving reusability elements. This article provides an overview preparation biochar, modification methods advancements adsorption by factors influencing as well mechanisms. Furthermore, difficulties encountered future research directions regarding biochar were proposed, providing references for application adsorption.
