Abstract Biomass processing employing ionic liquids is already an established option at the laboratory scale. Ionic can disrupt and deconstruct lignocellulosic biomass network, giving rise to multiple options for valorisation. However, there still much work remaining accomplish scale-up commercialisation of liquid-based processing. Important issues such as liquid cost recyclability, among others, need be carefully addressed. In addition, modify structure properties recovered materials, impacting potential applications. Due complex nature liquids, where combinations anions cations are possible, these should considered each process application, making it difficult generalise all cases. This perspective covers main challenges opportunities in employment processing, both stage valorisation fractions. Among them, we discuss importance solvent recovery costs two critical consider well major role lignin condensation plays hindering ionoSolv different approaches valorise cellulose.

Coatings are widely used in all aspects of life due to their easy and efficient functional properties. In today's pursuit green living, people increasingly looking for green, biosafe materials, so there is a trend develop simple economical methods coating materials using natural polymers. Lignin, as renewable aromatic polymer, has unique chemical structure that ideal the preparation UV-resistant superhydrophobic coatings. this study, triphenol epoxy resin (PTEP) was synthesized prepared vanillin guaiacol then octadecyltrichlorosilane chemically modify lignin prepare modified (OSL) with Finally, lignin-based coatings (PTEP-OSL PTEP-OSL/ZnO) were lignin, PTEP, nano-ZnO particles. Both PTEP-OSL PTEP-OSL/ZnO have good properties, maximum contact angles can reach 160° 159°. The properties mainly attributed high surface roughness they construct low energy provided by lignin. And compared coating, doped particles smoother anticorrosion performance. Electrochemical results show higher impedance (Z = 5.56 × 107 Ω cm2) phase angle value (θ 80.24°). addition, both exhibit UV shielding which will further expand practical applications. polymer advantages being low-cost, renewable, providing route value-added utilization
