catalysts
(SACs)

due

their
highly
dispersed
metal
centers.
Activating
persulfates
(PS)
with
SACs
can
generate
various
reactive
oxygen
species
(ROS)
efficiently
degrade
emerging
organic
contaminants
(EOCs)
in
aqueous
environments,
offering
unique
advantages
such
as
high
reaction
rates
and
excellent
stability.
This
technique
has
been
extensively
researched
holds
enormous
potential
applications.
In
this
paper,
we
comprehensively
elaborated
on
the
synthesis
methods
of
limitations,
factors
influencing
performance
SACs,
including
center
characteristics,
coordination
environment,
types
substrates.
We
also
analyzed
practical
considerations
for
application.
Subsequently,
discussed
mechanism
activating
PS
EOCs
degradation,
encompassing
adsorption
processes,
radical
pathways,
non-radical
pathways.
Finally,
provide
prospects
outline
our
vision
future
research,
aiming
guide
advancements
applying
technique.
