Globally, water resources are facing serious threat owing to the increasing concentration of various emerging contaminants. Indiscriminately discarded and/or excreted antibiotics and their residues one such Since long-term persistence these in environment is responsible for developing antimicrobial (antibacterial) resistance organisms, removal from / wastewater essential. Hence, scientists attempting evolve novel methods encounter water. One method adsorption onto a suitable matrix thereby reducing Biochar has been proven act as adsorbent contaminants; however, efficiency remains concern. Therefore, functionalization biochar using physical chemical modifications, was developed technique that can help efficient antibiotics. Functionalization seen improve properties biochar; as, pore volume, diameter, surface morphology, functional groups, polarity, porosity etc. In this review, functionalized biochars have explored understand efficacy mechanism residues. The discussion includes methods, impact property modifications on antibiotic residues, mechanism. addition, cost-effectiveness, economy process, its environmental effects also dealt with.
