Bamboo shoots, as the young bamboo stems, are rich in protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, well many bioactive substances beneficial to health, gaining importance worldwide a healthy food dietary supplement. However, fresh shoots lignify rapidly after harvesting contain cyanogenic glycosides, limiting safe consumption of shoots. To this end, based on changes nutritional composition physiological properties post-harvest factors affecting preservation emphasized, including series physical chemical regimes various processing methods for preservation. Furthermore, systematic biorefinery approach using shoot residue prepare value-added products is also discussed. Finally, article discusses issues related sustainable development, safeguarding security, addressing potential health impacts order provide scientific basis researchers further develop increase added value

Numerous fractionation methods have been developed in recent years for separating components such as cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin from lignocellulosic biomass wastes. Deep eutectic solvents (DES) recently widely investigated captivating green fractionation. However, most acidic-based deep solvent produces condensed with low β-O-4 content. Besides, DESs exhibit high viscosity, which results poor mass transfer properties. This study aimed to address the challenges above by incorporating ethanol into at various concentrations (10-50 wt%) fractionate oil palm fronds a mild condition, i.e., 80 °C, 1 atm. Cellulose residues fractionated ethanol-assisted showed maximum glucose yield of 85.8% when 20 wt% was incorporated solvent, significantly higher than that achieved pure DES (44.8%). Lignin extracted is lighter color contents (up 44 per 100 aromatic units) DES-extracted lignin. Overall, this has demonstrated could enhance applicability complete valorization biomass. Highly enzymatic digestible cellulose-rich solid β-O-4-rich attained serve sustainable precursors production biofuels.
