Highlights•Production of BioCrude oil from MSW by HTL Process.•K2CO3 Catalytic Process: 22.61 % yield biocrude with 28.61 MJ/kg heating value.•Solid Waste Contains: 78 dry, 22 moisture, 22.2 ash, 22.69 HHV, 52 Carbon, 8 Hydrogen.•Biocrude contains approximately 80 volatile fractions different fuels.•Biocrude majorly 25.74 Ethyl ether, 9.08% 2-pentanone, 4-hydroxy-4-methyl and 5.62 2-Propanone, 1,1-dimethoxy.AbstractIn this study, was successfully produced the hydrothermal liquefaction municipal solid waste collected landfill site Lahore, capital Punjab, Pakistan, boasting a population 12 million an annual collection 10 tons. The process performed at reaction parameters 350 °C 165 bars 15 min residence time. found to have dry matter, moisture contents, higher value, 52.062 C, 8.007 H, 0.764 N, 39.164 O. Non-catalytic only 10.57 oil, however when using catalytic process, improved 17.61 %, energy recovery for 12.14 solids, 2 g dose K2CO3. resultant has having 60.28 C 9.28 H. In contrast, aqueous phase generated had 4.43 pH, 71.5 g/L TOC, 1.35 Total Nitrogen. TGA indicated that fuels. organic compounds six highest peak areas in GC-MS were ether 9.08 2-propanone, 1,1-dimethoxy Silane, dimethyl (docosyloxy) butoxy 5.08 1-Hexanol, 2-ethyl 4.53 and. Phenol 4.07 %. This work makes first-ever successful use indigenous dumping Lahore produce useful aims reduction management, circular economy, recovery.Graphical abstract
