Liquid biopsy is an appealing approach for early diagnosis and assessment of treatment efficacy in cancer. Typically, liquid involves the detection endogenous biomarkers, including circulating tumor cells (CTCs), extracellular vesicles (EVs), DNA (ctDNA), RNA (ctRNA), proteins. The levels these biomarkers are higher cancer patients compared to those healthy individuals. However, clinical application using biomarker analysis faces challenges due its low abundance poor stability circulation. Recently, a promising strategy involving engineering exogenous probes has been developed overcome limitations. These activated within microenvironment, generating distinct markers that can be easily distinguished from background biological signals. Alternatively, labeled with intrinsic vivo detected vitro after metabolic processes. In this review, we primarily focus on microfluidic-based techniques allow transition analyzing existing emerging ones. First, introduce common as well synthetic Next, discuss recent advancements both biomarkers. Lastly, provide insights into future directions microfluidic systems.
