Neuroimaging studies investigating the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD)- such as apathy, anxiety, depression- have linked some these with altered neural activity. However, inconsistencies in operational definitions rating scales, limited scope assessments, poor temporal resolution imaging techniques hampered human studies. Many transgenic (Tg) mouse models Alzheimer's disease (AD) exhibit BPSD-like behaviors concomitant AD-related neuropathology, allowing examination how activity may relate to high spatial resolution.
