As urbanization progresses and vulnerable populations increase, equitable accessibility remains a critical issue. This study evaluates the of transit-oriented development (TOD) in Shanghai, focusing on barrier-free facilities metro stations. A comprehensive evaluation framework combining Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) System Usability Scale (SUS) was developed to assess station accessibility. Thirteen factors formed composite index. case two Shanghai stations, Xinzhuang Xujiahui, conducted using quantitative metrics, surveys, interviews. strong correlation between AHP scores SUS ratings validated framework's reliability. The provides recommendations for enhancing proposed offers robust tool evaluating improving urban transit accessibility, with implications inclusive mobility policy design.

Outdoor thermal environments significantly influence residents’ outdoor activities, yet current urban design often lacks sufficient attention to comfort, and existing methods remain inadequate. This study addresses these gaps by first demonstrating the crucial impact of on human activity through a combination field measurements resident surveys. Using Yangtze River Delta region as case study, we propose set optimization strategies based local perception characteristics. By conducting quantitative analysis perception, this identifies their seasonal comfort needs translates insights into refined space strategies. The results highlight significant variations in preferences, with autumn providing highest satisfaction, followed winter summer. Based findings, precision-driven optimizations that align spatial configurations thresholds. Strategies such dynamic shading arrangements for summer cooling wind-shielding structures warmth were tailored actual usage patterns, enhancing functionality livability spaces. research offers data-driven approach climate-responsive human-centered residential design, valuable guidance planners designers.

Understanding pedestrian behavior is crucial to inform public space design. However, being laborious, Gehl’s Public Space and Life (PSPL) framework restricted a small scale. Although prior studies have utilized computer vision (CV), they either focused on monitoring social distancing or measuring urban vitality, ignoring the subtle interplay between life. This study utilizes webcam data track walk stay behaviors, investigating their associations with features including point of interest, façade quality, street furniture. Our findings extend PSPL principles. First, pedestrians tend stand in less private places good visual connectivity, indicating that privacy matters standing than sitting. Second, along edge large-scale spaces while keeping middle spaces. Third, although all POIs affect certain types are more effective (i.e., catering). Fourth, place must be convenient through. CV partially automates without incurring labor costs. Urban design can use operationalized pipeline draw evidence-based recommendations monitor people-space interactions at large

Urban greenery is a strategy to improve the thermal environment in urban areas affected by heat islands and global warming. These phenomena can harm citizens’ quality of life. Researchers have investigated benefits vegetation, but only few explored its complexities across diverse scales. Understanding these variations critical for precise analysis, customized solutions, efficient resource allocation, enhancing living while promoting sustainability climate resilience. This paper reviews 250 scientific articles about relationship between greenspace published 2010 2023 through It summarizes parameters findings greenery’s contribution cooling environment. The data reveal that most studies concentrated on block scale, public open spaces, neighborhoods, parks, grouped mixed arrangements, high spatial parameters, use air temperature report their findings. cooling-effect evidence shows scale has an average mitigation range 0.7–2.7 °C, neighborhood 1.1–2.9 city 0.5–2.2 °C. Furthermore, it define reliable research methods perform thorough software validation assess model performance establish guidelines urban-landscape design accurately.
